Cruise passengers pay €2 per day in port. From the 9th night of the same stay, the rate is reduced by 50%.
Worked example
A couple spends 10 nights in July at a 4-star hotel in Alcúdia. The rate is €3 per adult per night for the first 8 nights and €1.50 for nights 9 and 10: (8 × €3 + 2 × €1.50) × 2 adults = €54.00. The same stay in March would cost €13.50.
Will the tax go up?
The Balearic Government has discussed raising the summer rates. Until a change is published in the official bulletin (BOIB), the rates above are the ones hotels must charge. We update this calculator as soon as anything changes.

How much is the tourist tax in Mallorca?
Between €1 and €4 per adult per night from May to October, depending on the type of accommodation, and 75% less from November to April. From the 9th night the rate is halved. Children under 16 don't pay.
Who pays the Balearic tourist tax?
Every guest aged 16 or over staying in tourist accommodation in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza or Formentera: hotels, apartments, holiday rentals, hostels, campsites and cruise ships. It is usually paid at check-in or check-out, not when booking.
Is the tourist tax included in my booking?
Usually not. Most hotels and holiday rentals collect it on arrival or departure. Some booking platforms show it as a separate local tax.
Is there VAT on the tourist tax?
Some hotels and rentals show the tax with 10% VAT added on the bill. The amounts in this calculator are the rates set by Balearic law, before any VAT.
What is the money used for?
The Sustainable Tourism Tax (Impuesto de Turismo Sostenible) funds environmental protection, heritage restoration, water infrastructure, research and affordable housing projects in the Balearic Islands.
